The effect of osteopathic manipulative medicine and other manual manipulation techniques on dysmenorrhea

Introduction Worldwide, menstrual pain affects up to 90% of reproductive-age women. Dysmenorrhea can cause significant disruption the daily lives menstruating persons and absenteeism from work or school. The combination first line treatment ineffectiveness prevalence calls for further investigation into alternative treatments such as Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT). Methods This meta-analysis aims aggregate evidence supporting use OMT a successful option reduce symptoms due dysmenorrhea. criteria accepted articles in our analysis included studies that mentioned primary dysmenorrhea, quantitative scale, inclusion only patients with regular cycle lengths. Results A total four were compiled compare relative improvement manual manipulative had on reported intensity using Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Total number subjects experimental group was 88. mean numeric rating scale amongst 5.4 before 2.6 after. p-value 0.023 is <0.05 therefore statistically significant.
